You Should Decide!

As I sit on the train home from London, after another day of auditions, I look around this packed off peak commuter and wonder how many people actually like what job they have.

Miserable drawn faces, pale skin from being inside all day, emptiness pouring out their eyes; it all makes me glad I chose to do what makes me happy.

I'd wager that not a single person on this train know by whom they are sitting. By this I do mean oneself, the person whom unobtrusively speaks to them through their televisions every night selling them the latest and greatest products they probably don't need!

Anonymity by all accounts is a very precious thing to behold in my line of work. The slight twinkle in someone's eye every now and then or a double take from someone thinking "I'm sure I know him!" gives you that little feeling of satisfaction knowing you've done your job correctly.

I aim to keep private when the day finally arrives of being thrust into the world of fame but only time will decide how long that lasts.

Please don't get me wrong but I'm sure there are plenty of other people who are quite satisfied with the work they do, aiming for the things in life their hearts crave so much. It does make me wonder though how often these people change jobs, wanting the change every so often.

I had a job for ten years, I didn't mind it but working in a cinema wasn't exactly my idea of working in the movie business. I'd rather be on the screen entertaining people than serving them popcorn.

When the time comes to film next week I will be doing everything in my power to get more from the "it's not what you know but who you know" people to give these, stuck in a rut, fixed routine people on the train someone to really ponder over.

Anyway, now that's off my chest please feel free to comment or go about your business but please at somepoint in your life please do what YOU want to do.

Never Give Up!!!

Whenever I have attempted something, I have always had this niggly thought in the back of my mind: Just give up!

If I had ever gone along with these words, I wouldn't be where I am today!

To enlighten you even more, I am a lifelong supporter and season ticket holder of the English Premier League team, Everton.

I have been to many a game at Goodison Park and even in the depths of relegation battles, Everton, like myself, never gave up and always came out better for it!

With this in mind, when it comes to acting and my career, I have never let anyone make me think its not worth doing.

People can always upset you and knock your confidence, but the likelyhood is that they are jealous of you.

I recently had a casting for an ITV police drama of which I never heard anything from it; this hasn't knocked me, hasn't disappointed me or upset me as I know the people who were casting it will always keep me in mind for future projects.

There is always something out there for you, as I have always believed if it was meant to be then it was meant to be!

I know I'll always get something because I never give up. My agent love loves my attitude as I'm always keeping my skills up, my photos up to date and my CV tidy and to the point!

You should always do what you want to do!

People get easily distracted in life by other jobs, partners, sports, children and many other things; but its just having a little bit of focus to aim for your goals that will at least make you think, if it doesn't work out, at least I gave it a real go!

I'm planning on going to Los Angeles within the next six months to fulfil a dream of mine of auditioning for American casting directors. Things are falling into place for certain things which leads me to believe I'm definitely heading there.

I've never given up on anything and it always disappoints me when some people give up to easily. I love being positive about everything I or people close to me do. Being positive will only attract positive things! This is good!!

If I have given you something to think about from this then great.

If I have given you some positivity back which you may have lost along the way, then even better.

Being Self Employed

Well I never thought it'd be like this!

After finally going feet first into the deep end with my acting career I am reaping the fruits of my labour.

I have currently embarked on my 4th holiday this year, not to rub it in, but the things that you can do and the things that come your way when you put the effort in is unbelievable.

It all started about 18 months ago; I got some photos done, got a new agent and I hit the ground running. One commercial lead to another, Coronation Street came calling and now my confidence which was probably at its lowest has built and built.

Nothing and no one will ever take that away from me. I know my ability and I know I get better every time I get and do a new job.

If you only get one thing from this post I hope it's 'believe in yourself', because once you do you will start to ooze confidence, regardless of whether you are nervous on the inside.

To just be yourself and be confident about it, says more about you than worrying what people think and sweating the small stuff over it!

Who cares what they think of you, if they don't like you that's their problem and it isn't the end of the world!

When I say they, I mean casting directors, producers, directors. Of course this can apply in all aspects of life too. My confidence has gone into my posture now. I hold myself up, walk tall and walk with purpose.

To get back to my original point, being self employed is really working out for me, and in my chosen career I get plenty of time to promote myself and search for the next thing to get my teeth into.

Anyway to save me droning on just remember, the secret is self belief!
Believe it and see it happen!

Well what can I say!

Since I wrote the blog above I have found out I have got one of the commercials I auditioned for last week!

The simplest thing of listening and doing what is asked of you pays dividends.

It'll be on TV soon, I'll keep you updated when. I go away filming next Wednesday, so expect a blog from the set!

Michael :)
